The evening was quite patchy and shadowy at first - then it got worse - then we sent the kids to bed with promises that we would awaken them IF the conditions got better. As Dave and I monitored the sky - it started to get better just as the shadow was crossing over the face of the moon and then it got totally clear when it got to only a sliver. Kids were summoned. The closer it got to a sliver the more the rest of the moon went red. Our very own resident Wizard Will came out too and sang us an old fashioned ditty about the Harvest Moon.
My phone was sadly not up to the task of capturing the moment - my regular camera fared a bit better - I will let you decide when I post to our blog tonight. But honestly nothing really could capture dancing around in the starlight to Will's tune en famille with an enormous lune sanglante au ciel. Then everyone went back into the house and off to bed. Yet another strange and wonderful night in a two+ weeks of glorious Michigan Indian Summer.
This is a day or two late but at least two pictures came out better than I thought they would. Its fun to share them.
